Glossary

Mudcloth (also called Bògòlanfini or bogolan)(noun) - a traditional textile originating from Mali - its hand-spun cotton is dyed with fermented mud and plant extracts then adorned with culturally significant symbols.

Toghu or Atoghu (also known as Bamenda cloth) (noun) - a textile design originating from Cameroon - it traditionally featured hand-embroidered geometric patterns of white/red/yellow thread on black velvet. Initially worn by royalty,  the fabric is now synonymous with Cameroonian culture and widely available in modern versions like  printed cotton.
